Since its beginning in 1993 the course has welcomed student groups from a rich variety of backgrounds. Our Mission Statement includes a commitment to an inclusive and diverse learning community.
Through continuous review and development we actively strive to eliminate all form of discrimination, including unconscious bias, within our training programme. We completely oppose all forms of discrimination and exclusion.
A designated Inclusion Lead welcomes student feedback and strives to ensure the training curriculum addresses issues of diversity and inclusion. Students are offered sessions on how Waldorf education can prepare children for a future healthy social life. Tutors are given guidance in regard to appropriate content and delivery.
A Pastoral Care Lead ensures all students are listened to and met with respect throughout the learning journey. Our duty-of-care extends to both tutors and students. The residentials and shared artistic activities help to strengthen the feeling of inclusion and community –many students claim they have made friends for life.
We acknowledge that Rudolf Steiner’s work contains some discriminatory statements and we completely refute these, whilst respecting his ideas on education and the nature of the developing human being.
All students and tutors should feel valued, respected and included within our community of learning, and experience a mood of welcome.
